This week it's all about judging books by their covers! Pick a book--any book, really--and search out multiple book cover images for that book. They could span a decade or two (or more)...Or they could span several countries. Which cover is your favorite? Which one is your least favorite? Which one best 'captures' what the book is about?
I'm very particular about book covers. There are books that I really want to have my own copy of, but haven't bought because they're not available in any covers I like (Dodie Smith's 101 Dalmations is one of those... and I'm still looking for a nice edition of E. Nesbit's Five Children and It!)
For this WG I chose Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time because it's one of the books that I would get in every cover I could get my hands on. I really can't choose which cover I love the most - I suppose the one I covet the most is the hardcover, but I love the current cover (#3, first row) the best right now. I own 2 Yearling paperback versions - the pink one (#2, first row) and the yellow one (#3, third row). I am most attached to the pink Yearling cover because it's my first copy, and it was a gift from my brother. I remember loving it so much, and when Kinokuniya opened in KLCC I was so excited because the rest of the books were finally within reach. When it comes to the cover that captures the book the best, I think most of the Dell/Yearling covers are great. :)

Hi!
I like them all, they are very bright and interesting, but I like the first one in the second row the most. I would buy that one if I saw it in the store. Have a great day!!

I have to agree with Splummer, they are all beautiful.
I can see the author had massive input in the design - they have a consistency to them.
Loved them
E.H
I liked the third one best!
Covered!
I don't think ANY of these covers is the one I initially read this book in, from the library many years ago.
When I read this book, I think I read the yellow one, #3 in third row and am partial to that one!
I also like the one you chose.. the third one on the first row. :)
Wow. Cool covers! I have the orange one. Looking at it takes me right back to elementary school!
I love this book. What a good choice! Of the covers you've shared, I think I like the one with the planets in the last row best - even though it is probably the worst one for giving some idea of the content of the book. My copy is a paperback I would guess is from the 70s and while it's art dates it, I think it fits the book really well. I've put a copy up on my site for anyone who wants to look.

My favorite is the bottom left. My WG is posted here.
I like the current cover best too. I also like the middle cover in the third row.
Great post!
Wow! Many of these are so familiar! I've been trying to remember which cover was the one I read to my son many years ago, and I think it's the first one... Wonderful book.
I didn't know this one had so many covers. It's interesting to think that they're all supposed to be representing the same book.
They really provoke thought about what the book is about don't they?
I can't even remember what cover of this book is the one I read as a child but I really like the third one in the first row.
Wow - very cool covers. It would be hard to pick a favorite. They are all very imaginative and give you a idea of what the story is about.
My post is finally up.
Happy reading!
I also like the third one best. It's one of the books that's been in my wishlist for a long time.
I haven't read this but I'm most drawn to the one with the planets on. I have no idea if this is representative of the book!
Gorgeous covers! That's one book I haven't read.
Happy Weekly Geeks :)
I have a copy of the first one but I like the third one best (from the first row).
My copy is the first one you posted, I mooched it but haven't read it yet. I like it but they are all really beautiful covers!
I like the 3rd one the best.
What an appealing display of covers! I can see that it is difficult to decice which one is the best. It also makes a difference when and where one has seen or read the book, I think.
The third one is my favorite but I do have a sentimental attachment to the first one in the last row as that is the cover of my childhood copy.
#3 first row is my favourite. But so many of those are great!
This is a fantastic choice! I read #9, which totally dates me as a child of the '70s and early '80s!
That was one of my favorite books as a child. I love the covers you choose.
I didn't know this one had so many different covers! How pretty!
Those are all so beautiful! I'm embarrassed to say I've never read this book. It will have to go on my stack right away!
I like the third on as well. The cover are all so different.
Splummer - I like all of them too! Probably one of the reasons I'd like to collect them all...
Erotic Horizon - Yes, the designs suit the books for the most part too :D
gautami - enjoyed your post! & glad you agree :)
wordlily - I would love to see the cover you read!
purplg8r - that's a nice one :D
Suey - i have that cover as well (mine has turned more yellow than orange, though) and i love it!
kerry - I saw your cover, it's gorgeous!
Becky - i think it's fascinating when the same book have lots of different covers, too!
Kerrie - yup. i remember hesitating to read my copy when i first got it from my brother, because the cover seemed strange to me. now i'm glad i did and i'm very attached to the version i read!
Alice - i hope you'll get to read it soon! it really is in the top 5 of my "most recommended" list.
Jo - i really like the cover with the planets, too! it's not the best representation of the book, maybe, but it's certainly eye-catching!
Maree - i hope you'll try it one day!
Frances - i'm really attached to the copy i read when i was a kid, too :)
Nymeth - aren't they? i do wish i'll be able to find them all :D (*greedy*)
softdrink - that's interesting :D i guess since they update the covers a lot each generation will have different attachments to different covers! :D
Linda - it's one of my favourite books, too :D
Kristina - me, neither. i knew there were several different covers, but not this many! i'm glad that i did this WG.
Terri - i hope you'll enjoy it!
Shannon - they're different, but i think they all represented the book well in different ways :D
What a very pretty blue in your blog border! I haven't read this book; I think I'll go add it to my wishlist.
I guess I should look at others' blogs because I did the same one you did! I didn't find as many covers as you; I'm missing five of the ones you have!
I love #3 in first row, I really like how the title/author are framed.
